Top 5 Travel and Local Apps on Android in Europe: Q2 2021

During the second quarter of 2021, the performance of the top travel and local apps on the Android platform in Europe demonstrated notable trends in user engagement and downloads. According to data from Sensor Tower, here are the insights for the top five apps: Booking.com: Hotels & Travel, Yandex Navigator, Google Earth, BlaBlaCar: Carpooling and Bus, and Airbnb.

Booking.com: Hotels & Travel saw a remarkable increase in weekly downloads, starting from 109K at the end of March and peaking at approximately 374K by the end of June. Weekly active users also followed an upward trajectory, climbing from around 4M to nearly 9M over the same period.

Yandex Navigator maintained a steady download rate, beginning at 124K in late March and rising to about 172K by the end of June. The app's weekly active users showed consistent growth, reaching around 5.5M by the end of Q2.

Google Earth experienced fluctuations in weekly downloads, peaking at 169K in mid-April before stabilizing around 111K towards the end of June. Active user numbers remained relatively stable, hovering around 1.2M throughout the quarter.

BlaBlaCar: Carpooling and Bus exhibited a steady increase in weekly downloads, starting from 86K at the end of March and reaching approximately 144K by late June. The app's weekly active users also grew, with numbers rising from around 834K to about 1.1M over the quarter.

Airbnb showed significant growth in weekly downloads, beginning at 61K in late March and peaking at around 163K by the end of June. Weekly active users increased from approximately 1.7M to over 3M during the same period.
